DO IT AFRAID.
It is a new year. Many of us have grand dreams and visions of how we want our lives to be.
Yet, something holds us back.
Have you tried to start something new, but held yourself back with tons of questions like:
How will it work?
What if I can't do it?
What if I fail?
What if no one pays?
What if no one shows up?
What if I embarrass myself?
And because of these multiple unanswerable questions, you give up before starting.
The truth is, no one has these answers. No one, except God. 🤷♀️
Being that we are not God, and we all don't know anything about the future, what do we do?
We go ahead anyway!
Easier said, right?
I know. This scenario I described has a name. It's FEAR. Fears are varied and the different types have different names. Knowing the name helps you put it in perspective.
I suffered from Impostor Syndrome for years. It's the feeling that you're not good enough, that you are undeserving of the accolades and position you enjoy. It's a whole discussion for another day...
So what do you do when on the brink of a new endeavour and you're faced with fears?
You take a deep breath, repeat to yourself, "The Spirit of God in me is not one of fear, but of courage and a sound mind.
I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me."
Then dig deep into your innermost recsses of strength, and do it!
Do It Afraid.
We all do.
All the great men did.
They had fears, but moved on to "do" regardless.
That thing your fear keeps you from doing, you will see another person do and do excellently, and perhaps make a fortune from it. You got the vision first, but fear held you bound.
Today, I invite you to shake off the fear holding you captive.
Zig Ziglar says, "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!"
Nike says "Just do it"
I say "Just start it!"
Today, Do It Afraid.
